Remember to include your name, phone number, and the number of people that will be attending. If not enough people have called prior to a program, the activity could be canceled. 

 

Please note that the Stillman Nature Center is available during the week, by reservation, to school classes, Audubon chapters, garden clubs, and other groups. Also, we can bring our raptors to your classroom or meeting place. Check the Owl Outreach page for more information.

THURSDAY TREKKERS

Join us outside for a healthy hour-long walk around a lake, through the woods, and who knows where else? Why not add Stillman to your list of exercise options? Come prepared to hike the trails with sturdy winter boots.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS 

Join Meditation Facilitator and Stillman volunteer, Rivian Wolf, as she guides you through a series of meditations designed to help you relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. These meditations will take place on the third Monday of the month. Meet in the parking lot and come dressed for the weather. It is only a short walk to the locations Rivian has selected.

SUNDAY MORNING BIRD WALKS 

David Johnson, formerly of the Wild Bird Center in Fox River Grove, has come out of “retirement” to lead our morning bird walks. Migration will be under way and you never know what we might find. Binoculars and field guides are a must. If you don’t have any, don’t worry, Stillman does. Please call 847-428-OWLS to make reservations.

BATS & CAMPFIRE 

Ever wonder about these creatures that come out at night? Why are bats so mysterious? Join us for bat information, a campfire, and roasted marshmallows. We’ll also be listening to sounds of nocturnal wildlife. Speaking of which, we’ll end the evening with a visit to our resident owls.

SNAKES & TURTLES 

Join naturalist and reptile enthusiast Lara Sviatko as she shares her knowledge about these cold-blooded animals. In fact, you’ll have a chance to touch a snake as well as look for Stillman’s snakes and pond turtles. Don’t forget to call and reserve a spot.

POND STUDY 

With the help of long-handled dip nets, families will scoop into our pond in hopes of catching crayfish, dragonfly larvae, tadpoles and other rarely seen pond creatures. Dress in clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting muddy. Call or email to make reservations since space is limited.
